Authority is one of those illusive concepts that you're not sure exactly what it is, but you know it when you see it. We easily can tell when someone has authority in a specific area because we listen to them. 

Miriam-Webster defines authority as "power to influence or command thought, opinion, or behavior" and as "persons of command".

Authority is not easily gained. It comes through lots of diligent effort and is generally the result of some struggle, battle, or conflict.

When religious people state that they have gained authority over something, it generally comes of them going through some traumatic event and rising higher on the other side of it. 

You gain authority over money by having had some, losing it, and getting it back. You gain authority over mental health by battling the disease, winning, and maintaining the positive state. You gain authority over infertility by not being able to conceive, opening the womb, and giving birth to multiple children. 

Everyone was designed to have authority in a specific area of life. Not everyone has authority in every area, but there is a specific place that once you've gained authority in that region, you can move on to claim authority in others.

This is the fourth directive of God's original command¹ - subdue the earth.

What heartbreaks have you had in your life?

What challenges have you gone through that really tested your resolve?

What curses have you broken that will not pass on from you to others? 

Everyone is meant to have authority somewhere. The sooner you find yours, the more sense your life will make. 

That means that if you don't have any authority, a battle or test is on your way. Congratulations!

It also means that if you're in the middle of a battle of strength or test of wills right now, congratulations!! Your authority is being forged by fire now. Engage the process for you will be better for it on the other side.
